"Just let it go, Enjoy the ride"

No comments :

So, this post is slightly inspired by Louise(SprinkleOfGlitter)'s post. I have been jamming to the song "High" by Young Rising Sons lately and it has become my new life motto.
"Just let it go enjoy the ride, without the low there ain't a high"
I have been trying to live up to this by appreciating the moments, not dwelling on everything else that is going on. This being said, this weekend I tried my best to live life to it's fullest and take every chance that I was given. On Friday, one of my suite-mates asked me to be her date for their co-ed fraternity's date party. At first I was hesitant, I never really fit in with that crowd and did not want to feel awkward all night. My last minute decision (seriously 15 minutes before they left) was a great one. I had an awesome night with friends I haven't spoken to in a bit and had great conversations with some new people too. We had a magnificent time dancing the night away. All in all, I'm super glad that I decided to take the chance and go out.
This is where I thought my weekend was going to end. One good night, that's better than not really doing anything. Boy, were were all in for a surprise. At the spur of the moment four of my suite-mates (Bessie, Ella, Sarah and Emily) and I decided to be groupies for the night and follow a local band of guys we know, Soft Cough (check them out), to a gig they were playing in Syracuse.
It was meant to be a surprise, but didn't work out too well and they found out we were coming. After an hour and a half drive of screaming some good ol' songs, we got to Syracuse and went to Funk'n Waffles, an eclectic waffle joint that has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. All I have to say is INCREDIBLE.
I got Bacon, Brie and Basil with an Apricot Marmalade, mhmm
We then raced over to the show that was in a local art gallery. Bessie who is from outside of Syracuse, has friends that go to ESF and SU who also met us there. The show was great. After they performed we decided to go to a coffee shop called Recess. It had such a nice vibe.
We hung out there for a while and then went to a party a couple of houses down. We didn't stay for long, but the people there were really welcoming and super chill. We just jumped in a game of slap cup and they were so nice about it. It was a good stop and addition to our adventure. Once we decided to head out after making a plan, we went to Insomnia Cookies.
This is a cookie shop that is open late and delivers cookies. Ella and I got "cookiewiches" that were massive. It was awesome. I feel as though I am running out of adjectives... After that we headed to Bessie's house to hang out and sleep. We got cozy across two twin sized mattresses and watched Chopped while waiting for Ben and Dan, two members of Soft Cough to come back. After they got there and we shared some banter over a few more episodes, we all crashed for the night in one big mass of bodies.
In the morning we went to Bessie's local diner and then explored Armory Square. Then we headed back to Geneseo. All in all, it was such a great weekend and I am so glad that I took the opportunities that were thrown my way. I appreciate the rough times lately because it made this weekend seem like an even better experience for me. The moral of this story is just like the song says, enjoy the ride and wherever life may take you, especially if it is an unexpected turn.

How Very Autumnal

1 comment :

Hello, I know it's been a long time. I did mean to blog about moving back into my dorm and some college-y things, I promise! But, sadly, my father passed away and it has been a difficult past few months. I do plan on getting around to doing a few posts on college essentials and decor in the near future.

With Halloween just around the corner, Fall is in full swing. Autumn is such a nice time of year though. Being on a college campus, surrounded by trees and old ivy covered buildings makes the season seem somehow magical. The leaves change and begin to fall and you can watch as people begin to add layers. It's funny, college students either put on their winter coat the minute it gets chilly, or wait until it is practically snowing. I love adding christmas (or fairy) lights to my room, lighting candles (autumn scented of course), drinking loads of hot drinks and just keeping cozy.

It's been a bit of a lonely semester. Most people I know are either in an organization (Greek life, sports, clubs, etc) or in the process of pledging this semester. I was unable to pledge this time, but plan to pledge next semester. I've been enjoying the time by watching loads of films, and YouTube. I plan to add a Geneseo vlog to my YouTube within the next week or so as well as posting more on here.

My course load has been hectic this month due to midterms. Lots of papers, presentations and exams, but it has begun to settle down. I was able to go home for Columbus Day weekend and it was a great time spent at an Army football game and a vineyard, with my massive extended family, whom I love to pieces and am so thankful for. (So, now where's the turkey and mashed potatoes.) (37 days!)
